Introduction of Department

The department of international trade is the centerpiece of the new changes and developments of ANU, which is leading the way toward globalization. The face of world trade is changing rapidly. With the launch of WTO, once-existing boundaries have begun to disappear and countries are relaxing international trade regulations to proliferate free trade so that foreign investment of overseas markets and industries can become truly global. The severely competitive environment of corporations is constantly changing. The competition to take advantage of the global market for each country is a race, and newly industrialized countries are quickly adding to the competition by becoming more economically developed and investing in foreign markets. Under the precious mission of the national economic trade development, the basic mission of the department is to produce professionals who can play an important role in the industrialized information society in response to the rapidly changing global market. The department of International Trade consists of a wide range of study based on the theories and practices of international trade. As a practical approach for concentrating on understanding and forecasting the theoretical perspective of international trade and economic phenomena, the students are taught courses on the theories and policies of international trade, international banking, finance, trading practice, and its rules and regulations. The students are also taught the questions of why a product or service is needed, how all parties can benefit, how they should allocate the profits, and whether the transaction meets the rules of the international trade policy, including the study of tariffs and foreign currency exchange, which are not related to domestic trade.
