Department of Data Science

With the development of the computer and information communication, the modern society is overflowing with tons of data from many fields. A large number overflowing data may appear tedious when unattended, but when correctly utilized, the data can be priceless. The mission of this department is to train and educate students who will work for the information industries creating high profit value and who will learn the methods for collecting, analyzing, and understanding data and its patterns in order to provide the needed information for the decision making process. In this information era, much information is produced, exchanged, and utilized for better decision-making. The window of opportunity is wide open for graduates whose professionalism is in demand by industrial and national sectors where data processing is increasing day by day. The graduates of this department find careers in banking, the stock exchange, consulting firms, the communications industry such as Korea telecom, manufacturing, government sectors such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and National Statistical Office, and as web developers or web PD for venture capitalists. The graduates will be qualified to take the license exams for a number of different professions: quality control engineer 1 or 2, social survey analyst, insurance consultant, information engineer 1 or 2, industrial QA engineer, and other licenses related to the internet.
